2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Paul talks about the glory of the new covenant and how it brings freedom. He contrasts the new covenant with the old covenant, which was written on stone tablets and brought death. The new covenant, however, is written on the hearts of believers by the Spirit of the living God, and it brings life and righteousness. Paul emphasizes that the new covenant is superior to the old covenant because it is based on the ministry of the Spirit, which gives life, whereas the old covenant was a ministry of condemnation. He explains that the old covenant, with its fading glory, was temporary, but the new covenant, with its surpassing glory, is permanent. Paul concludes by saying that because of the new covenant, believers can approach God with unveiled faces and reflect the glory of the Lord. As they are transformed into the image of Christ, they experience increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
