2 Corinthians 7:6
But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,
In this chapter, Paul writes to the Corinthians about the encouragement he received from Titus' report on their response to his previous letter. He rejoices in their godly sorrow and repentance, as it has led to their spiritual growth and reconciliation with Paul. Paul acknowledges that his previous letter had caused them sorrow, but he does not regret it because it was a necessary step towards their repentance. He explains that godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, while worldly sorrow brings death. Paul commends the Corinthians for their eagerness to clear themselves of the wrongs they had done, their indignation towards sin, their longing to see Paul, and their concern for him. He assures them that his previous letter was not meant to harm them, but to show his love for them and to urge them to repentance.
