Easy Bible・2 Corinthians 10
2 Corinthians 10:3
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
In this chapter, Paul defends his authority and ministry against those who opposed him. He starts by acknowledging that he is human, but his weapons are not. He explains that his weapons are spiritual and powerful, able to demolish strongholds and arguments that set themselves up against the knowledge of God. He emphasizes that his goal is to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. Paul goes on to address the accusations made against him by some who claimed that he was bold in his letters but weak in person. He assures them that his letters are indeed bold, but when he is with them in person, he does not want to appear to be intimidating. He wants his authority to be recognized through his actions and not just his words. Paul concludes by warning those who continue to oppose him. He asserts that he will use his authority to build up and not tear down. He urges them to examine themselves and test their own motives, reminding them that true authority comes from the Lord. He hopes that they will recognize his authority and work together with him for the edification of the church.
