Ephesians 3:4
In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,
In this chapter, the apostle Paul reveals the mystery of Christ that was made known to him by revelation. He explains that the mystery was not made known to previous generations, but has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. The mystery is that through the gospel, Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members of one body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus. Paul describes himself as the least of all the Lord's people, and acknowledges that he was given the task of making known the mystery of Christ to the Gentiles. He explains that the mystery was hidden in God, who created all things, so that through the church, the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms. Paul concludes this chapter by expressing his confidence and boldness in approaching God. He prays that the Ephesians may be strengthened in their inner being by the Spirit, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. He prays that they may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, so that they may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
