Ephesians 5:22
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
This chapter begins with instructions for wives to submit to their husbands, as the church submits to Christ. Husbands are then instructed to love their wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. The chapter also emphasizes the importance of avoiding sexual immorality and impurity, and instead living as children of light. It encourages believers to walk in love, to live wisely, and to make the most of every opportunity. The chapter also addresses the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit, which leads to speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. It encourages believers to always give thanks to God and to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Furthermore, it provides guidance for husbands and wives, parents and children, and slaves and masters, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect, love, and obedience in these relationships. In summary, Ephesians 5 teaches us to live in the light, imitating Christ's sacrificial love and avoiding sinful behaviors. It emphasizes the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit, walking in love, and maintaining healthy relationships based on mutual respect and obedience.
