Philippians 3:12
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
In this chapter, the apostle Paul encourages the Philippians to press on toward the goal of knowing Christ and being found in Him. He starts by warning them about the false teachings of those who rely on their own righteousness. Paul then shares his own testimony, explaining how he once had confidence in his own achievements, but now considers them as loss for the sake of knowing Christ. He emphasizes the importance of faith in Christ and the righteousness that comes through faith. Paul expresses his desire to know Christ and the power of His resurrection, and to share in His sufferings. He acknowledges that he has not yet attained perfection, but he continues to press on, forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Paul encourages the Philippians to imitate him and others who walk according to the same standard, and warns them about those who live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Paul reminds the Philippians that their citizenship is in heaven, and they eagerly await the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform their lowly bodies to be like His glorious body. He encourages them to stand firm in the Lord and rejoice in the Lord always. Paul concludes by sending his greetings and blessings to the Philippians, expressing his gratitude for their partnership in the gospel.
