Colossians 2:6
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
In this chapter, Paul encourages the Colossians to remain rooted in Christ and to not be deceived by empty philosophies and human traditions. He emphasizes the supremacy of Christ, who is the fullness of deity in bodily form. Paul warns against being taken captive by deceptive teachings and encourages the believers to hold fast to their faith in Christ. Paul reminds the Colossians of their spiritual circumcision, which is not performed by human hands but by the putting off of the sinful nature through their identification with Christ's death and resurrection. He assures them that they have been made alive with Christ and have been forgiven of all their sins. Paul also addresses the Colossians' struggle with legalism and asceticism, emphasizing that these practices have no value in restraining sensual indulgence. Instead, he encourages them to focus on Christ and to live in accordance with the freedom they have in Him.
