2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
In this chapter, Paul addresses the concerns of the Thessalonian believers regarding the second coming of Christ. He warns them not to be easily deceived by false teachings or rumors that the day of the Lord has already come. Paul explains that before Christ's return, there will be a great rebellion and the revelation of the man of lawlessness, also known as the Antichrist. The man of lawlessness will oppose and exalt himself above everything that is called God or is worshiped. He will even set himself up in God's temple, proclaiming to be God. However, Paul reassures the believers that the man of lawlessness will be revealed in his own time, and that the Lord Jesus will overthrow him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming. Paul encourages the Thessalonians to stand firm in the teachings they have received from him, whether by word of mouth or by letter. He emphasizes the importance of holding on to the truth and not being easily shaken or alarmed by false teachings. Paul ends the chapter by praying that the Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, will encourage the believers' hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word.
