Easy Bible・2 Thessalonians 3
2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
In this chapter, the apostle Paul addresses the issue of idleness among the Thessalonian believers. He urges them to imitate his example of hard work and not to be dependent on others for their needs. Paul reminds them that when he was with them, he worked hard day and night to support himself and not be a burden to anyone. He also warns against those who are idle and refuse to work, saying that they should not be given food if they are not willing to work. Paul emphasizes the importance of working diligently and not being idle, stating that those who are idle are not following the example set by him and his companions. He encourages the Thessalonians to keep away from anyone who is living in idleness and not according to the tradition they received from the apostles. Furthermore, Paul urges the believers not to grow weary in doing good. He reminds them that if anyone does not obey his instruction in this letter, they should take note of that person and have nothing to do with them, so that they may be ashamed. Paul concludes the chapter by expressing his confidence in the Lord's faithfulness to establish them and guard them from the evil one.
