Easy Bible・1 Timothy 1
1 Timothy 1:15
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.
In this chapter, Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, writes to Timothy, his true son in the faith. Paul reminds Timothy of the importance of sound doctrine and warns against false teachings and myths. He shares his own testimony, acknowledging that he was once a blasphemer, persecutor, and violent man. However, he received mercy from God, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for him, transforming him into a faithful servant. Paul emphasizes the purpose of the law, which is to bring awareness of sin and lead people to Christ. He encourages Timothy to fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. Paul mentions some individuals who have shipwrecked their faith by rejecting these principles and turning to meaningless talk and false doctrines. Paul concludes the chapter by reminding Timothy of his calling and encouraging him to remain faithful, entrusting him with the charge to command certain individuals not to teach false doctrines. He emphasizes the importance of love, which comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.
