2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
This chapter emphasizes the importance of Scripture in the life of a believer. It starts by warning about the difficult times that will come, where people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. In such times, we are urged to stay true to the teachings we have learned and to hold firmly to the Scriptures. The Scriptures are described as God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. They equip us for every good work and provide guidance and wisdom in all aspects of our lives. It is through the Scriptures that we come to know God, understand His will, and grow in our faith. In contrast to those who oppose the truth, Paul reminds Timothy of his own example and the persecutions he endured for the sake of the Gospel. He encourages Timothy to continue in what he has learned and to continue in the Scriptures, which are able to make him wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The chapter concludes with a reminder that all Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for our spiritual growth and maturity.
