Easy Bible・Titus 1
Titus 1:5
The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
In this chapter, Paul instructs Titus on the qualifications for elders in the church. He emphasizes the importance of appointing leaders who are above reproach, faithful to their spouses, have children who believe, and are not arrogant or quick-tempered. Paul also warns against false teachers and their deceptive ways, urging Titus to rebuke them sharply. Paul reminds Titus of the reason he left him in Crete, which is to set things in order and appoint elders in every town. He encourages Titus to choose leaders who are known for their good character and sound doctrine, as they will be responsible for teaching and guiding the church. Lastly, Paul cautions Titus about the influence of the circumcision group, who were teaching false doctrines and causing division among believers. He advises Titus to silence them and correct their teachings, reminding him that the pure in heart will see God, while those who are corrupted and unbelieving are unfit for any good work.
