Hebrews 8 talks about the new covenant that Jesus established, which is superior to the old covenant given to Moses. In this new covenant, Jesus serves as the mediator between God and humanity, offering a better sacrifice than the earthly priests who served under the old covenant. The old covenant was flawed and temporary, but the new covenant is based on better promises and is eternal. The writer of Hebrews quotes from the book of Jeremiah to show that God had planned this new covenant all along. The new covenant is characterized by God's laws being written on people's hearts, and everyone, from the least to the greatest, knowing God personally. It is a covenant of forgiveness, where God remembers our sins no more. The writer concludes by stating that the old covenant is obsolete and will soon disappear, while the new covenant remains forever. Through Jesus, we have access to this new covenant and can experience forgiveness, a personal relationship with God, and the hope of eternal life.
