Easy Bible・James 1
James 1:2
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
In James 1, the author encourages believers to consider it pure joy when they face trials of many kinds because the testing of their faith produces perseverance. He tells them to ask God for wisdom when they lack it, and to have faith without doubting. He reminds them that the rich should take pride in their low position, while the humble should take pride in their high position. He warns against being deceived by wealth and encourages believers to persevere in their faith. The author emphasizes the importance of not just listening to the word of God, but also doing what it says. He compares someone who only listens to the word and does not act on it to a person who looks at themselves in a mirror and immediately forgets what they look like. He encourages believers to look intently into the perfect law of freedom and to continue in it, not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it. The author also addresses the issue of anger, instructing believers to be slow to anger and to get rid of all moral filth and evil. He encourages them to humbly accept the word planted in them, which can save their souls. He emphasizes the importance of not just hearing the word, but doing what it says, and warns against deceiving oneself by merely listening to the word without putting it into practice.
