Easy Bible・2 Peter 3
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
In this chapter, Peter talks about the second coming of Jesus and the end of the world. He reminds the believers that scoffers will come, questioning the promise of Jesus' return and mocking the idea of judgment. However, Peter assures them that just as God destroyed the world with a flood in the time of Noah, He will also bring judgment upon the ungodly in the future. Peter emphasizes that God's timing is different from human timing, and a thousand years is like a day to Him. He encourages the believers to live holy and godly lives, looking forward to the day of God's judgment and the new heavens and new earth. Peter warns the believers that false teachers will arise, distorting the teachings of Paul and leading people astray. He urges them to be on guard and to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Peter concludes by giving glory to God, acknowledging that Jesus is the Lord and Savior, both now and forever.
