Revelation 8:1
When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
In Revelation chapter 8, the seventh seal is opened in heaven, which brings about silence for about half an hour. Then seven angels are given seven trumpets. The first angel sounds his trumpet, and hail and fire mixed with blood are hurled to the earth, burning up a third of the trees and all the green grass. The second angel sounds his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, is thrown into the sea, turning a third of the sea into blood and causing a third of the living creatures in the sea to die. The third angel sounds his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, falls from the sky and turns a third of the rivers and springs into bitter wormwood, causing many people to die from the bitter waters. The fourth angel sounds his trumpet, and a third of the sun, moon, and stars are struck, causing them to lose a third of their light. As a result, a third of the day and night are without light. These trumpet judgments serve as a warning of God's impending judgment and call for repentance.
