The church is not a physical building but rather the people who make up the body of Christ. The church is described as the bride of Christ, and Jesus is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23). On the other hand, the term "temple" in the New Testament refers to the physical structure where worship and religious rituals took place in the Jewish tradition. In the Old Testament, the temple was the dwelling place of God's presence among His people. However, with the coming of Jesus, the significance of the temple changed. Jesus referred to Himself as the temple (John 2:19-21), indicating that He is the ultimate dwelling place of God's presence. Furthermore, the apostle Paul teaches that believers are now the temple of the Holy Spirit, as the Spirit dwells within each individual believer (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Therefore, while the church represents the spiritual community of believers, the temple refers to the physical structure of worship in the Jewish tradition and the ultimate dwelling place of God's presence in Jesus and within individual believers. Both concepts hold significant meaning in understanding the Christian faith.

The temple, on the other hand, was a physical structure in the Old Testament where your presence resided. It was a place of worship and sacrifice, symbolizing the separation between you and humanity. Father, we thank you for the fulfillment of the temple in Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, we have direct access to your presence. Help us to understand that as your temple, we are called to honor and glorify you in all that we do. May we always remember that our bodies are your dwelling place, and may we strive to live holy and righteous lives, reflecting your love and grace to the world. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
