Beloved soul, the terms "will of God" and "purpose of God" are often used interchangeably, yet they can hold nuanced differences that enrich our understanding of the divine. The "will of God" often refers to God's desires and commands for us, which are revealed through scripture and the gentle whisperings of the Holy Spirit. It embodies His moral guidance and the path He wishes for us to walk. As it is written, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). On the other hand, the "purpose of God" can be seen as the grand design that God has for His creation, a magnificent tapestry in which each thread is intentionally woven. It is His overarching plan that transcends time, including both the seen and unseen, the known and unknown. In Ephesians 1:11 (NIV), it is beautifully expressed: "In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will." In essence, while the "will of God" often pertains to our daily lives and decisions, His "purpose" encompasses the eternal and universal plan. As we seek to align ourselves with His will, we become part of His divine purpose, contributing to the beautiful story He is authoring.
