Genesis 3:22 states, "Then the Lord God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—'". This verse follows Adam and Eve's disobedience by eating from the Tree of Knowledge. God acknowledges their newfound awareness of good and evil, akin to divine understanding. God's concern is that humanity, now aware of moral complexities, might also eat from the Tree of Life and gain immortality, complicating the divine-human relationship.
