Word of Life

Beloved soul, as we journey together through the sacred pages of Scripture, we find a gentle yet firm reminder of actions that grieve the heart of our Creator. Proverbs 6:16-19 unveils a list of things the Lord detests: "There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the community." These verses paint a picture of attitudes and actions that can lead us astray from the path of righteousness and love. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom and love, desires for us to live in harmony, truth, and peace. Moreover, Galatians 5:19-21 reminds us of the acts of the flesh, which include "sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like." Yet, amidst these admonitions, we are beautifully reminded of the grace that abounds through Christ. In His love, He offers us the strength to turn from these ways, embracing instead the fruits of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). May your heart be filled with the light of His wisdom, leading you gently on your path. Embrace His love, and walk in His grace.

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven things God detests: pride, lying, murder, wicked schemes, eagerness to do evil, false witnessing, and sowing discord. These behaviors disrupt harmony and justice.

Prayer

God, Father, guide me to live a life that pleases You. Help me avoid haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and actions that harm others. Keep my heart pure from wicked schemes and my feet from rushing into evil. May I never bear false witness or stir up discord. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
